Not Made in China

Adding or Subtracting Links to the A List

We hope that all producers or sellers of products that can legitimately be said to be "not made in China" will contact us to request that their merchandise be included in the A List. We encourage others who have noticed such products to request that the companies involved contact us. Initially, inclusion of products on the A List will be free of charge. However, as the site grows, it will be necessary to institute a charge.

We also hope that surfers who notice a product in the A List that they believe should not be there, will tell us of this fact, along with their reasons for thinking so.

We can be contacted by e-mail. The subject line for a proposed inclusion should read "Proposed Addition to A List". For a subtraction it should read "Suggestion for Removal". In either case, the name, street address, and email address of the producer or merchandiser should be included. If possible, the URL internet address should be added so that the firm or product can be more quickly and usefully added to the list. Your changes should be suggested for inclusion in one or another of these categories: Manufacturers or Product Lines "not made in China"; Catalogs (on-line or otherwise) with Country of Origin Clearly Marked for each Item; Categories of Goods Seldom if Ever "made in China"; Individual Items "not made in China".

There are rules for determining "made in" status. For one short discussion on the web, click here. While the emphasis of this notice is on "made in the USA", the discussion also covers the more general area of "made in" regulation for country of origin. "Made in" status is determined primarily by the most recent work on the product (rather than its earlier "sources") and at least 51% of this work being in the country so designated. Necessarily, however, for our A List, we will focus on popular or consumer judgment rather than what would hold up in a court of law.
